Q. How much will the New Payments Platform cost?

Currently there is no cost to make payments via the NPP.  This may be subject to change and members will be advised prior to any changes taking place.

Q. Is the NPP safe?

Yes. Protecting our members’ funds is of paramount importance to The Capricornian. Payments made through the NPP enjoy the same high levels of security which The Capricornian is renowned for. Some of the protections in place include:

  • 2 Factor Authentication – a two-step authentication process which adds another layer of security to your transactions. A unique code will be sent to your phone then entered into the relevant space where requested.
  • 24/7 Fraud Monitoring – The Capricornian will ensure that all NPP transactions are monitored 24/7. You will be contacted if we suspect you have been the victim of fraud.

Q. Can someone take money from your account using your PayID?

A PayID cannot be used to take money out of an account. It can only be used to receive payments.

The New Payments Platform (NPP) has arrived, meaning Capricornian members have a new, faster way to send and receive money.

NPP is an industry-wide initiative that will provide Australians with four key benefits:

Payments are processed in real-time, with the money you send reaching the recipient’s account in seconds instead of the usual one-to-two day wait time.

24/7

Send and receive payments 24/7. Even on weekends. Between friends, between businesses and between financial institutions.

Simple address

Something as simple as your mobile number, email address or ABN can be used as your unique PayID. With your PayID, you can pay and get paid via Online Banking or The Cap App – you also have the flexibility to keep using your BSB and account details if you choose.

Security

The NPP is certified to the highest data security capabilities and monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Of course The Capricornian takes security and fraud seriously and we have the latest systems in place to ensure your money is safe.

You’ll also have certainty in knowing you are paying the right person, because when you are using someone’s PayID to make a payment, the name will be displayed to confirm that the payee is indeed the person or company you are intending to pay.
