How to do the Rocky Show on a budget

Want to treat the kids to a day at the show without breaking the bank?

Here’s our top tips for a fun-filled day that won’t cost the earth!

1. Pre-purchase your ride tickets at The Capricornian!

This is a great way to save but also a great way to teach your kids how to manage their own spending. You also won’t need to worry about them losing cash or cards in the excitement of the fairground. The Rocky Show Bonus Ride Tickets give you $30 worth of tickets for $25. Each ticket is worth $1 and is redeemable at participating ride operators and food vendors in the fairground area. A limited number of Bonus Ride Tickets are available so get in to The Capricornian’s East Street branch or Stockland Rockhampton branch to get yours. These are only available for purchase before the show or until sold out.

2. Buy your entry tickets online.

This tip will save you more time than money, but hey – time = money, right? If you buy your entry tickets online ahead of time, you can avoid the lines at the gate by entering through the Express Entry lane at Gate 8. This entry point is reserved for online ticket holders only and will ensure you’re not wasting valuable ride time waiting in line. Entry tickets are available for purchase online here through the Rocky Show website.

3. Set a budget for Show day.

Once you’ve organised your entry and your ride tickets, you should figure out how much you’re willing to spend on the entire day. Set the difference aside, either in cash or a separate spending account, so you know exactly how much you have to spend at the event and when you’ve hit your limit. Let’s be honest, there is such a thing as too many dagwood dogs and we all need a little reminder sometimes.

4. Find the freebies!

The best things in life are free! And they’re so much more fun because of it. There’s enough free entertainment at this year’s Rocky Show that if you wanted to, you could spend a whole day (and evening) there for the cost of your $5 entry ticket. There’ll be fireworks and camel races and the petting zoo in the Farmyard Pavilion will no doubt be a huge hit with the kids! Don’t miss us right next door at The Capricornian stand for your chance to win a Pro Smoke Kamado meat smoking pack worth more than $1,100! Our brand new mascot will also be making his debut at the Rocky Show, handing out free bottled water and fun gifts for the kids. Got all that? Ok, let’s go. It’s Show time!
