Capricornian Community Grant Recipients Announced

The Capricornian recently launched our Community Grants Program, with the objective to strengthen relationships and support worthy not for profit organisations throughout Central Queensland. With a total of $25,000 available annually, divided across two rounds, the funding is designed to support the community which The Capricornian has served financially for nearly 60 years.

Manager Member Engagement, Justin Stitt, said, “It’s a program that acknowledges the great work our community not for profit organisations do.  As Central Queensland’s only local, customer owned financial institution, this continues a strong history of the credit union reinvesting profits back into the community.”

The first round of funding saw grants being awarded to three worthy not-for-profit organisations.

Major Recipient

The Caves SS P&C receive the cheque for their Community Grant from Manager Member Engagement Justin Stitt, Stockland Branch Manager Lauren Robinson and CEO Dale Grounds

The Caves State School P&C

The Caves State School P&C have been awarded a grant of $10,000 to assist with the construction of an outdoor learning area for the students in which they can be outside whilst learning and not be confined to the four wall of their classroom.  Learning outside the classroom is known to contribute significantly to raising standards & improving pupils’ personal, social & emotional development. It also contributes to the quality and depth of learning.

Minor Recipients

RockyStart Inc.

RockyStart Inc. were awarded $2,500 to assist with the running of their 2018 Educators Ball.  The ball is held for all Early Childhood Educators in the Central Queensland community to recognise the significant contribution and services Educators provide to our children and this region.

Turkey Beach Progress Association

We have increased our support of the 2018 Turkey Beach Tractor Bash.  In the past we have donated $100 to the event.  This has been increased to $2,000 for the 2018 event.  The goal of the Turkey Beach Tractor Bash is to showcase and promote the hidden treasures of Turkey Beach and evoke energy in the area whilst bringing together the community. By the year 2022, the Turkey Beach Tractor Bash endeavours to be a major family event that attracts 5,000 – 10,000 visitors from the region, Queensland and interstate.  This grant will assist them in achieving this goal.
