Becoming a member

Choose to bank your way! Become a member of The Capricornian and choose the best financial products and services to suit you.

The Capricornian is a member-owned financial institution and your $10 member share means you will be a part owner of the credit union.

  • As a member you get to vote at our Annual General Meetings and have a say in what’s important to you.
  • As a member owned credit union we return all profits we make directly back to you and our other members by offering a full range of products and services that are simply great value.
  • We also give back to the local communities in which we operate, offering support through sponsorships and donations.

As a Member you are required to purchase a share for a nominal amount, which is $10. This is a once off payment that we will direct debit from your account. If at any time you resign from your membership with The Capricornian, your share will be refunded.

Branch

Call into one of our branches at any time during normal office hours, where a member of our team will help you complete a Member application form. You will need to bring along proof of your identity and documents produced need to be originals.

The Capricornian only provides products and services to its customers, which it refers to as Members. To become a Member you must be an Australian resident, and obtain a Member share. The share has a value of $10 but is at call. If Membership shares are paid up, they are redeemed if the Membership is closed or cancelled. Junior Members (those under 18 years old) are not required to pay the $10 member share until their 18th birthday, at which time the cost of the share will be automatically deducted from their account. Non incorporated associations are not issued a share.
